Counselor Contract Job Description
Metrocrest Program

Responsible for providing victims of domestic violence in the Metrocrest area with initial intake, individual counseling, group counseling and case management.

Other duties include but not limited to:

  • Perform initial intake and ongoing individual counseling with adult victims of domestic violence as well as facilitate a domestic violence support group.
  • Assess needs of clients, provide support and information as well as develop safety plan with clients.
  • Be knowledgeable and up to date on area resources and provide case management to victims of family violence.
  • Work closely with the Children's Counselor to ensure optimum services are provided to Metrocrest clients.
  • Maintain accurate and current recordkeeping procedures including files on each assigned client including monthly statistics.
  • Attend required weekly case management meetings and supervisory sessions as arranged.
  • Provide community education concerning the issue of domestic violence as well as represent The Family Place at area Metrocrest community functions as arranged.

Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field.
  • LPC, LPCi or LMSW preferred.
  • Two years experience in counseling or crisis intervention.
  • Group counseling experience required.
  • Domestic violence experience preferred.
  • Organizational and communication skills a must.
