Weekend Staffing Specialist

Coordinate the scheduling for the weekend staff; coordinate weekend activities/events.  Provide shelter residents and hotline callers with information and resources about domestic violence and to ensure The Family Place is a safe, friendly environment conducive to crisis management and recovery for victims of domestic violence and their children.

Other duties include but not limited to:

  • Coordinate weekend scheduling for the weekend staff.
  • Assist in finding a replacement for any weekend shift left without coverage.
  • Promptly notify the Program Director or the Program Administrative Assistant about each assigned shift which will not be attended.
  • Act as a back-up to the weekend staff.
  • Serve as the liaison between the Program Director and weekend staff.
  • Serve as the liaison between the operations/maintenance staff and the weekend staff.
  • Responsible for the weekend recreational activities/work events.
  • Answer the hotline calls using appropriate crisis intervention techniques to assess caller needs; make appropriate referrals where indicated.
  • Perform initial assessment of eligibility for client families requesting emergency shelter.
  • Provide information and referral services as indicated.
  • Respond to client needs while on duty.
  • Prepare and implement, with the supervision and input of shelter staff, recreational, educational and Life Skills activities/classes for adult shelter clients.
  • Assist with clerical projects and paperwork as needed.
  • Assist in training and monitoring of new shelter staff/volunteers.
  • Attend any and all training sessions as required by The Family Place.
  • Adhere to The Family Place policies and procedures.

Time Commitment:

·         The shelter is open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. The Weekend Staffing Specialist is expected to work two, eight hour days per weekend; preferably 11a-7p (Saturday & Sunday)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling and/or any Human Service related field.
  • At least 2 years work experience in domestic/family violence.
