| | Program Director, Emergency Shelter Services
Status: Full Time/Exempt
Reports To: Executive Program Director, Residential
Monitor, evaluate and provide supervision for all counseling and case management services provided to clients who enter the emergency shelter services program. Supervise support groups, case management and assessments of hotline calls. Review case files for service delivery and appropriate documentation.
Other duties include but not limited to:
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of counseling services, assessments and case management being provided to clients of the ESS Program.
- Provide training to all program staff on the issues of domestic violence and monitor on a regular basis to ensure staff maintains professional knowledge which is current and compatible with agency philosophy and policy.
- Provide case management training to program staff with emphasis on goal planning, advocacy for clients, adequate referral and resource information and effective individual counseling with victims of domestic violence.
- Monitor hotline calls for quality and effectiveness. Provide critical feedback to staff regarding the strengths and areas to improve response where indicated.
- Assist program staff with problem solving and intervention choices as needed.
- Provide on call coverage which includes assuming pager/cell phone responsibility.
- Facilitate weekly case staffing with the ESS staff and monitor the effectiveness of clinical services being provided.
- Supervise interns participating in the ESS program and provide evaluation to the field placement advisor.
- Provide training for documentation in client file. Develop a system for the regular review of client files for appropriateness and for completion at closing.
- Develop programming for the shelter. This may include activities, groups and training which will enhance the skills needed for effective client services.
- Schedule attendance in agency training for emergency shelter staff. Coordinate and schedule staff training which will enhance the skills needed for effective client services.
- Participate in agency volunteer training.
- Attend all mandatory agency functions including but not limited to The Family Place annual meeting, new board orientation and volunteer training.
- Collaborate with children's staff regarding parent/child issues of clients in the residential programs.
- Maintain working schedule as required by the program with adequate flexibility.
- Train and monitor ESS staff in the area of support group technique and protocol. Evaluate the quality of groups being provided to ESS clients.
- Provide individual crisis counseling for ESS clients as needed.
- Implement training for ESS staff. Coordinate and schedule staff training which will enhance the skills needed for effective client services.
- Train new staff members, interns and volunteers for effective delivery of crisis hotline. Focus on the areas of crisis intervention techniques and evaluation of client eligibility and assessment.
- Train new staff members, interns and volunteers for effective case management for ESS clients.
- Become familiar with all current interventions, programs and services being provided to victims of domestic violence.
- Participate in community speaking engagements and training when needed.
- Participate in in-service training program and workshops as indicated.
- Conduct personnel evaluations for all ESS employees.
- Facilitate weekly staff meetings for ESS employees.
- Implement and maintain quarterly assurance system to monitor grant compliance and program standards.
- Develop resources and networks which will benefit and enhance services to women and children in the ESS program.
- Assist Executive Program Director as needed.
Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling with a current LMSW or LPC.
- 3+ Years clinical experience, preferably working with victims of domestic violence.
- 2+ Years experience in program management supervision.
- Counseling and group experience essential.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
