Development Manager


Status:  Full Time/Exempt
Reports To:  Development Director

Responsible for donor and event sponsor development.  Responsibilities include cultivating individual giving and planning, organizing and implementing special events including Polo on the Lawn and Texas Trailblazer Awards Luncheon and other events/projects.

Other duties include but not limited to:

  • Responsible for all elements of planning assigned special events including sponsor solicitation, entertainment, promotion and marketing, event production and implementation.
  • Identify critical resources needed to reduce shelter and program expenses, quality and develop corporate resources for in-kind donations on a continuous basis.
  • Execute timely follow-through of cultivation and solicitation of sponsors.
  • Responsible for managing and documenting donor and event details in database; ensure thank you letters are mailed.
  • Develop and maintain procedural manuals specific to each event and area(s) of job responsibility.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact successfully with colleagues, support staff, volunteers and donors.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform duties under time pressure and produce quality results.
  • Perform other job duties at the request of the Director or Executive Director.
  • Must be able to work occassional evenings and weekend events.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial and strategic fundraiser with a proven track record in securing gifts at the corporate and foundation level as well as individual levels, setting and achieving individual and group goals, and planning campaigns.  Candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to relate to a broad range of internal and external constituencies.  Strong writing skills and public speaking abilities are key.  Must be proactive, self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines and work with a team.  Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.  Must have a high level of computer proficiency.  Knowledge of the Dallas Community is helpful.  Graphic design experience a plus.

  • Bachelors Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or related field. 
  • 3 to 5 years of proven experience managing fundraising programs, and two years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability and skills in planning and resource development.
