Help us bring safety and comfort to each person who walks through the doors at The Family Place!
In 2013, our Emergency Shelter housed 383 women and 652 children. With the ever-increasing number of victims we see each year, The Family Place Emergency Shelter shows extensive wear.
Due to the high traffic, the shelter requires much needed maintenance to continue to provide critical services to victims - often fleeing from life-threatening abuse. It is essential to provide facilities able to withstand constant use, but provide space where victims feel safe and welcome..
The Family Place Emergency Shelter
2011: 264 women and 461 children
2012: 363 women and 594 children (33% increase)
2013: 383 women and 652 children (8% increase)
The priority of this campaign is to restore individual client rooms -- new beds, new flooring, updated storage space and a fresh coat of paint.
We need to make sure we maintain our facilities so families can thrive. It has been 14 years since we have done any major renovation of the shelter.
Can we count on you to support this important cause? There’s nothing like a fresh coat of paint to make a space come alive – help us remind our victims where they are going, not where they have been.
The Family Place has joined forces with Dwell with Dignity whose mission is to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness by providing home interiors that are inspiring and comforting to families as they are working toward self sufficiency. Our Labor of Love Campaign will fund much needed renovations of The Family Place Safe Campus which provides shelter for 1000 victims of domestic violence every year. Our partnership will bring comfort to the Safe Campus so that families escaping from domestic violence feel cared for and worthy of a life free of violence.
Imagine this scenario: You have to leave your home in the middle of night – no time to pack, no one to help, running away just to keep yourself and your children safe. What are your first priorities? A safe place to go, privacy to heal and move forward and maybe even your own bed to sleep on…
The Labor of Love campaign will involve a major renovation of our emergency shelter. Our first priority is the much needed maintenance of individual client rooms - beds, new flooring, and furnishings. In addition, our intake area - the first point of contact for all victims and our large family area – an area for homework and/or meeting space; television area; large gross-motor area for young children to play and a teen nook - will be updated to accommodate the growing needs of our clients.
By making a tax deductible donation, you will be directly contributing to people struggling with domestic violence, and you will be recognized for your generosity as a supporter on our website and newsletter.
