One Courageous Victim Breaks her Silence on Anderson LIVE

by Emily Roberts | Oct 24, 2012

On Tuesday, October 23, Anderson Cooper talked with Lisa Holden, who opened up about the dangerous domestic abuse she faced with her husband. She breaks her silence after being held captive, violently beaten and nearly scalped by her husband on Anderson LIVE.

Lisa (Texas native) has survived the unthinkable. She was married to her husband Joshua for 7 years. They have three children who are 2,3 and 7 years old. The verbal and physical abuse started at the beginning, but got worse as time went on. At first it was just pushing and punching, but over time Joshua started whipping her with wires, stabbing her, shooting her with a pellet gun, hitting her with a baseball bat, and beating her in the head with car jumper cables. Joshua completely isolated Lisa. One day it hit Lisa that she wasn’t going to be able to live through much more of the abuse so she grabbed her two youngest children (the third was being dropped off at school by Joshua) and ran into the woods. She hid there for nearly 3 days. A woman picked her up and took her to the police station. From there she was transported to the hospital where she was treated for her many injuries. Now Joshua’s in prison awaiting trial, and Lisa is attempting to put the pieces of her life back together.
