Work Behind the Scenes

ADMINISTRATIVE HELP

If you enjoy administrative work, we are always in need of help at our locations around Dallas area. Typical volunteer assignments include greeting visitors, filing, clerical work, answering phones and data entry.

PARTNERS CARD

Seasonally, we use volunteers to assist in our Partners Card fundraiser, selling cards, inputting donor records and processing sales receipts.

FUNDRAISING AND EVENT PLANNING

Are you a fund raiser? Your expertise can assist us in planning, organizing and running our major fundraisers—FORE! The Family Place Golf Tournament, Texas Trailblazer Awards Luncheon, Escapade and Partners Card.

RESALE SHOP

Volunteers assist in merchandising and retail sales, as well as sorting incoming donations of clothing, personal and household items.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Your group can hold a special event for the women and children at the Safe Campus or in one of our Outreach programs. We are always looking for sponsors to provide a celebration, a game day, carnival or any other event in your imagination during the holidays, or any time, throughout the year. Volunteers also assist in the Adopt-a-Family program sorting donations, provide treats for the children in the Child Development Center for holidays throughout the year and staff other special projects as needed.

Work with Clients

CHILDREN’S EVENING OUTREACH PROGRAM

Volunteers work with Group Leaders during group therapy to help children stop hurting. They assist with activities and games, help with snack and art activities, and provide a role model for the children.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Volunteers can help with special events, work in the reception area, and in the After School Program. We also use volunteers in our K-2 classroom as teaching assistants.

COURT ADVOCATE

These special volunteers support and advocate for victims filing protective orders against their abusers at the Frank Crowley Courthouse.

COURT PARTNERSHIP

Monitor and record the judicial process in the Protective Order and Family Violence Courts at the Frank Crowley Court House. Information gathered is reported back to the community and courts to create awareness.

FLP FAMILY CENTER

Work with staff to support supervised visitations and exchanges on the first, third and fifth weekend of the month.

SHELTER

Volunteers work at the front desk to support the operations and security of the Safe Campus. They answer phones, handle admission to the campus and work with residents to help with their daily living needs. Shelter volunteers can be trained to handle hotline calls after an initial period working the front desk.

SPEAKERS BUREAU

Represent The Family Place at Volunteer and Health Fairs, as well as speaking engagements. Speakers represent The Family Place at community engagements and United Way speaking engagements. Speakers Bureau training takes place on the third Tuesday in August.
