Make Spirits Bright This Holiday Season and Adopt A Family at The Family Place!

November 14, 2022

DALLAS, TX (November 14, 2022)Dallas-based family violence service agency, The Family Place, announces their annual Adopt A Family holiday program. Adopt A Family is a wonderful way to bring a brighter holiday to survivors of domestic violence.

This year there are several ways supporters can help The Family Place make spirits bright with Adopt A Family, purchasing gift cards for The Family Place clients, or purchasing items from their “Bright New Beginnings” Amazon Wishlist. The deadline for donations is December 14th.

The Adopt A Family program works with families that range in size from single clients to parents with six children. Supporters of the program can shop for each family member and provide boxes, wrapping paper, tape, and bows to give to the client to wrap the gifts for their children. The Family Place requests to receive unwrapped donated gifts. Donors will then deliver the gifts to The Family Place’s new Distribution Center in large plastic bags, where they ask that donated bags are secured with relevant family numbers taped to the outside of each bag. To respect client privacy and security, The Family Place distributes the gifts directly to the families. The link to Adopt A Family is here.

Gift cards are another fantastic way to empower a survivor to choose how they make their family’s spirits bright this holiday season! Gift card examples include Visa, Target, Walmart, Kroger, Tom Thumb, and other local grocery stores. The Family Place asks that donated cards are in increments of $20 or $50. Donors should place gift cards in envelopes and write the total amount and family number on the outside of the envelope.

With “Bright New Beginnings,” you can donate items from The Family Place’s Amazon Wish List. These items are essential to clients as they move into their new safe homes.

These gifts truly mean so much to families and individuals in The Family Place’s care. The Family Place is thankful to all who donate this holiday season and the difference they are making in empowering survivors of family violence in North Texas.
